Celebrating Jakarta Anniversary

Sunday, June, 22nd, 2008, Jakarta celebrated its 481th anniversary. And Einzel did a special way to celebrate the Capital’s special day. Einzel enjoyed “delman”, a traditional and uniequely vehicles which use horse power as its main “fuel”. Delman, or andong, or dokar almost perished because government prohibitted them to find passengers from Monas area. Monas or National Monument, a 450 feet (137 meters) monument with 35 kg (1,125 troy ounces) gold in the top, is Jakarta icon in the sentral city which built by the first president Soekarno at 1961. Government decided to replace the dokar in Monas with tourism train, a small train designed to make business in tourism destination.

But, the dokar’s owners didn’t give-up with that policy. In order to survive in this big city, they change the working area from Monas to the housing area. Just like around Einzel home at Percetakan Negara, Central Jakarta. Every Sunday evening, the dokar came and bring the children go around with the horse. Only to pay two thousand rupiahs (0,20 US Dollars) for a trip around the blocks.

Einzel enjoy this kind of activity, sat on the backside the Dokar with Bunda, he looked so happy behind the horse and the ridders, we called it “kusir” or “sais”. Maybe, if only Einzel were became Jakarta Governor, he would gave the free access to the dokar go around the whole city without exception. “Because dokar is a refreshing mass transportation. And no pollution came by it,” said Einzel, of course only in his mind, because over his 7th month, Einzel hasn’t speak well yet. Einz choosed to learn walk first than to speak.
